Blood: Water Mission
One dollar saves one life for an entire year.
This is the ultimate goal of the Blood:Water Mission to see "this orphaned continent [Africa] be transformed through the installation of Christ's sacrificial symbols of blood and water." Jars of Clay, founders of BWM have devoted their time, energy and love to this organization to see the compassion of God's people focused on the suffering and dying in our world.
Again and again, God's Word reveals to us our obligation to those in need. We see this throughout the Old Testament, "He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing. And you are to love those who are aliens, for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt" (Deuteronomy 10:18-19). Just as each of us was once an alien to the Kingdom of Heaven, we have been given a remarkable gift of grace that we are to extend to others.
BWM extends this gift of grace, of compassion, of healing and love through clean blood and clean water. Their vision is for blood clean of the HIV virus and water clean of parasites and bacteria. "Taken together, blood and water represent a community-centered approach to AIDS that include establishing basic conditions necessary for health, providing vital medical care and clean water, working toward social equality, addressing the constraints of poverty, and empowering communities to take ownership of their own long-term healthy development. This kind of integrated approach is essential to winning the battle against AIDS."
Where do you come in?
"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5: 14-16). You have the opportunity to shine your light to the world by giving your time, energy, love and financial support to this organization through the events that Hunt Valley Church is hosting.
- Stache Bash (March 10)
- Running Water 5k (April 14)
- Poker Tournament (May - TBA)
- Chik Fil A Event (TBA)
If you are unable to participate in any of these events, but would still like to make a financial contribution please do so below. Make your gift for the 1,000 Wells Fund and enter Twelve in the memo field. May your light shine before the world as you bring glory to your Father in heaven.
